This is spot-on. It was cheaper for BP to bury the oil below the surface where they wouldn’t have to pay for cleaning it up, than to lose potential profits from oil lost to the spill.
Check out the local channel 5 news, showing that clear, tar-ball free water at the beach is anywhere from 16-200+ parts per million. Corexit is lethal to fish fry at 2 PPM. This is Corexit being found at 200 times lethal levels, in the water you go to and swim in, if you’re near the beach. Stay out of the H2O!
BP has proprietary rights over the dispersant and won’t even reveal its formula… how can we know if or how toxic it is if they don’t even have to tell us that?
If it is proven that larvae of blue crabs and fiddler crabs sampled from Louisiana to Pensacola are contaminated with oil and corexit dispersant, (as one expert put it) “the effect on fisheries could last for years probably not a matter of months” and affect many species.
SO we just stop eating crab and it will be OK right? Wrong!
It all comes down to understanding the food chain. The food chain is the sequence of who eats whom in a biological community (an ecosystem) to obtain nutrition.

I just got word that my cousin died yesterday in Atlanta. She had Emphysema. Haven’t heard the autopsy results yet. Not sure if it was heat related or Emphysema aggravated by what is in the air now? I know I feel for those with Emphysema who live close to the gulf. This can’t be easy on them by any stretch. What the hell is really going on? Wish I knew. The correctshit that they are spraying can’t be helping though since it is more toxic than the oil and probably more easily evaporated. Thx BP

Do you know that all of the clean up workers from the Exxon Valdez are dead. Their average life expectancy was 51 years old. This stuff will kill people fast than the oil would have.

@TheUSVET No it takes years to develop enough of this bacteria to be able to make even a small dent in the oil slicks we are seeing. China already had supplies on hand, but they only needed a fraction of what is needed in the gulf.
If BP had supplies of oil eating bacteria available, they would almost certainly use it. It isn’t a matter of BP being an evil murdering corporation. It is a matter of cost and logistics, dispersants are better than big fat slicks on the beach evaporating.
Has everyone forgot that oil evaporates and will drift over land as well and is also extremely toxic?
Dispersants whilst they are toxic and also evaporate are in far smaller quantities than that of the oil, In my personal opinion whilst the dispersants are going to have side effects, they will be less so than the side effects of having massive amounts of oil washing up and evaporating.

As we speak more than two million gallons of Corexit oil dispersant have been sprayed by British Petroleum into the gulf. Corexit 9527 and 9500 are both classified as highly toxic, meaning they can kill within a mile. The same Corexit 9500 was used in the Exxon Valdez oil spill and almost every cleanup worker from the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster is now dead. Corexit is known to be four times as toxic as the oil itself. So, why is Obama allowing BP to kill life in the Gulf? Politics and lies.
